SUMMER SIZZLER - PART II AT AUCTIONS NEAPOLITAN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 11, 2006

AUCTIONS NEAPOLITAN
Sale August 22, 2006
Naples, FL

NAPLES, FL - Auctions Neapolitan owner Kathleen Pica has announced the second portion of her SUMMER SIZZLER SALE to be held at the auction gallery in Naples on Tuesday August 22. The first part of the two part sale was held July 18 and Pica said, "The last one was a good mid summer Florida sale but this one will be better." She has gathered around 400 lots from a number of SW Florida estates with special attention to art. "All of the material is new and fresh to the market. It hasn’t been seen in this area before."

One of Pica’s favorite entries in the inventory is a leaded glass window from the late 19th or early 20th century depicting a religious scene of an angel in conversation with a mortal. The work is very much in the manner of La Farge, American (1835-1910), but there is no attribution as yet. The window stands 72in tall and is 35in wide. It appears to depict the Annunciation of Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary. Also included in the sale will be an engaging portrait of a young girl reading a book before a large open window. From the mid to late 19th century, the oil on canvas, 13½ X 17in, is unsigned but has a possible attribution to Johan Georg Meyer Von Bremen, German (1813-1886) and an important work by an artist of local area interest, Maximo Cortina, will be presented.

An ornately decorated late 19th century Russian crystal chandelier, hanging 38in high by 20in wide, will cross the block as will several 19th century carousel horses, artwork by Jerome Myers (1867-1940) and Edwin Koch, a Heronde rock salt figurine and a number of Art Deco smalls.
Bidding will be available online through LiveAuctioneers.com, by phone, by absentee or left bid or in person at the auction gallery at 1100 1st Ave. S, Naples. Reserved seating for 150 is available by phone or in person. The sale begins at 5:30PM on Tuesday August 22. Preview is available beginning Friday, August 18 from 12 - 5, Saturday August 19 from 12 - 4 and Tuesday, August 22 12 to 5pm.
